A little about my training, my approach, and how I ended up practising medicine this way.
I’m a GP based in Brisbane with advanced training in functional, lifestyle and longevity medicine alongside my core medical qualifications. I hold MD, MPH, MHLM, BMedSt, LLB (Hons), BCom (Acc&Fin), and I am a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). I am also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.
Over time, I found myself drawn to the patients whose problems didn’t fit neatly into a standard appointment: the ones who’d been told their results were normal, or that what they were feeling was just stress or just ageing. Functional and longevity medicine gave me a framework for answering the question underneath all of that: why. This includes work in mental health and deprescribing, complex and chronic conditions, and long-term health optimisation.
I think of health as layered. Problems that don’t resolve easily usually sit across several of these layers at once: environmental, physical, regulatory, emotional, and the meaning we make of our health. Treating one layer in isolation is often why things drag on.
A first consultation with me is longer and broader than a standard GP visit. I take a detailed history that includes family patterns, daily life, and what has changed over time. We then examine the physical and biochemical picture in proper detail, looking at markers that go beyond a standard panel when needed.
The plan that follows is individual and sequenced. It may include lifestyle changes, targeted supplementation, referral to other practitioners, or prescription medication where appropriate, often a combination, ordered according to what needs to be addressed first.
I see patients in person at Foundations Clinic in Wilston, and via telehealth.
